Green Goo That's Good For You

As I prepare for tomorrow’s venture I decided to try out what the next month has in store for me.  Yesterday I tried Green Monster by Naked Juice for the first time….I know I know, but I’ve had lots of their other flavors before.  Forgive me if the first thing I grab off the shelf isn’t green juice.

Today however was a whole new venture.  I’ve already mentioned that my place is decidedly not in the kitchen.  So today I learned how to used the food processor!  What a wonderful machine!  Here is what I have in store for you:

“Delicious Green Smoothie Salad”

(As adapted from an ABC news episode, this is their recipe)

  • 1 1/2 cup of cold water
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce, coarsely chopped (may substitute any leafy green vegetable you have on hand)
  • 3 large stalks of celery
  • 2 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 bunch of cilantro (may double the parsley if you don’t like cilantro)
  • 1/3 bunch of parsley
  • Juice of 1/2 a fresh lemon

(This is my recipe)

  • 5 Hearts of Romaine leaves
  • 2 large stalks of celery
  • 1/3 bunch of cilantro
  • 1/3 bunch of parsley
  • 1 1/2 banana
  • 2 apples, cored
  • 1 mango
  • 1 1/2 cup cold water
  • Juice of 1/2 of a lemon

Since I had the use of the food processor I grated everything and then added it to a blender to be smoothiezed.  However if you do not have access to a food processor I suggest chopping up all the ingredients first and then blending the hard ones(lettuce, celery, cilantry, parsley, apples) at the end add in the banana, mango and lemon juice.

It truly is a delicious treat! Enjoy!
